This beach near La Mesita offers stunning vistas, a black sand shore, and nearby cliffs. Faro Punta de Teno is nearby, and the area is filled with cacti.
The beach has limited access due to heavy traffic, so the only way to get there is by walking, biking, taking a bus or taxi. Buses go every hour, but masks are mandatory, which is inconvenient and unnecessary. We decided not to go, so we opted for another destination instead. The mountain road from Chio is quite treacherous, so it's best to avoid it. Additionally, the sand on this beach is gray with pebbles.
That place is a great spot for swimming and taking walks. The waves crashing against the cliffs are truly a sight to behold.
The views from both coasts are stunning. Taking the bus from Buenavista del norte is a good option as the road is very winding and can get congested when it's opened. You can get there for just 1 euro each way and enjoy the hills and valleys along the way. There are several stops in the center of town and along the way. People do come here for fishing and picnics, however, there are no facilities so make sure to bring whatever you may need.
That place is definitely worth the long and at times daunting drive. The views along the coast, with its prehistoric cliffs and caves, are simply incredible. Even with the strong winds, this beach remains an amazing place to visit, and the fact that it is easy to access makes it even better.
