This beach is always a great destination to visit and it holds sentimental value with the memories of the jetty that used to stand here. Additionally, the beach boasts golden, fine sand that adds to its charm.
It's really disappointing to see such a famous spot turned into a messy heap of shattered concrete. The waves have completely destroyed the slipway, and it has been replaced with a dangerously steep wooden staircase. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for the boatmen to use it. Even my dog struggles to climb those precarious steps. Kouga Municipality needs to step up their game.
It's a great spot to grab some fish and chips and enjoy the ocean view. However, it's a shame that the jetty is no longer there and only a few pillars remain in the water. I wouldn't recommend going alone though, as it can be quite deserted.
The beach area is incredibly stunning and spacious.
The stunning shoreline is comprised of stunning sandy beaches spanning from Kabeljous to Paradise Beach, including Jeffrey's Bay, Marina Martinique, and Aston Bay. It is an ideal location for gathering seashells and driftwood for artistic purposes. I strongly suggest taking a leisurely stroll along this stretch of coastline, particularly during low tide or the first hour of the incoming tide to maximize your shelling experience. I will include as many photos as possible of the treasures I have discovered and deemed worth keeping.
