Arriving at the beach on my bike turned out to be a misjudgment on my part, as I am not accustomed to the Dutch climate. The strong winds and chilly weather made me regret my decision. However, I managed to spend a brief time reminiscing about my past experiences in Bali while admiring the beautiful sunset. This was my second visit to this beach, and I must say, my first one during the summer was far more memorable. The surrounding area boasted numerous restaurants and shops that were open, offering patrons the opportunity to enjoy drinks, beers, and food while taking in the stunning sunset views.
If you're looking for a serene spot to soak up the sun and take a refreshing dip in the cool waters of the Northern Sea, this beach is the perfect destination. Conveniently located beneath the dike, you'll find optimal parking to make your visit hassle-free. And if you're in the mood for a little retail therapy, there are a few charming shops nearby that are definitely worth exploring. All in all, this beach is a delightful retreat that promises a memorable day out.
The beach is absolutely stunning and pristine, with immaculate dunes that boast a hidden underground parking lot that is complimentary on Sundays. It's an ideal location for a picturesque hike, and the beach is dotted with a plethora of restaurants to satisfy any craving. The beach is also remarkably clean, with an abundance of trash cans to ensure its upkeep. On certain evenings, you may even witness the mesmerizing zeevonk phenomenon, where algae emits a stunning blue glow in the waves as the water moves. However, the beach does have one drawback: at times, sewage water is dumped into the sea, resulting in less than ideal water quality.
The beach was rather pleasant, and I visited it based on a recommendation from a travel guide. It's a great spot for taking photographs, particularly of the charming old church situated near the shore. However, I wouldn't suggest spending an excessive amount of time there.
The beach is lovely and well-maintained, perfect for strolling or playing with loved ones. It's also easily accessible via public transportation - simply take the train to Leiden central station and then hop on the bus.
