This beach is an absolute disgrace. It's so dirty that my dog refused to even walk on it - it's made up of pebbles, after all. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Santamaria is a nice and quiet place, but the beach is a bit of a letdown. It could be a great spot, but the port's posidonia on the shore makes it a backwater. We don't go there anymore and my dog stays at home. The beach near Tortolì airport is great for dogs, with beautiful water and sand. But unfortunately, it's shallow, with only one and a half meters of depth. There's still a lot to be done to improve the dog service.
The beach is quite stunning, with plenty of space and some vegetation in the background. It's easy to get to, and there's a large shaded car park. There's also a bar with outdoor tables nearby. It's not very well signposted, but if you head down to the left from the Saracen tower, you'll find it between the marina's embankment and the tower. Despite the presence of algae, it was a pleasant surprise to find this beach in the area, making Santa Maria Navarrese an even more attractive destination.
Visiting the beach for dogs in SMN is not ideal for playing with your pup due to the large amount of algae that has created a step higher than one meter. In the past, when the beach was not designated for dogs, this issue was not present. Although this problem is not exclusive to this beach, the neighboring beaches not intended for dogs have managed to solve it. It would be nice to be able to relax on the beach with an umbrella and towel and play with your furry friend. Hopefully, the municipality of Baunei can find a solution to make this beach enjoyable again.
Although it may not be the most picturesque beach, it is a peaceful spot with plenty of shade, which makes it ideal for our dogs.
