There is no complimentary parking available in the vicinity. We had to pay 12€ for parking our car and an additional 15€ per person to access the beach.
The Tonnara di Scopello had the potential to be a remarkable destination highlighting the rich historical and cultural heritage of the country. Unfortunately, it has become evident that the Tonnara has suffered from poor management and questionable practices. It is truly disappointing that a property situated on public land is now being handed over to private ownership, and moreover, visitors are required to pay for entry while being prohibited from bringing their own food or water, almost resembling a prison-like environment.
The entrance fee is 15 euros. If you arrive at 10 in the morning, you'll easily find a seat. The water is beautiful, and they also have a bar where you can enjoy food and drinks.
The water at the beach is stunningly clear, but it is filled with stones, so it would be wise to bring water shoes. It may not be extraordinary, but it could be decent for snorkeling. The beach features a charming, old fishing house and is situated in a picturesque location that has been used as a film set for various movies, including Ocean's 12. The entrance fee is 15 EUR per person, which includes a guided tour of the small museum. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see it, possibly because we arrived in the afternoon around 5 p.m. (although there were no warnings about being late, as the place closes at 7 p.m., along with the parking area where you have to pay separately for either the whole day or 2 EUR per hour). Apart from swimming, there isn't much else to do. There is a small boutique with restrooms, drinks, and snacks (which are again quite expensive). The service is not the best either, as it is rather unwelcoming and misleading. The taverna and other amenities are located in restricted areas accessible only to hotel guests. I believe it would be an amazing experience as a guest, but for the 15 EUR entrance fee, there isn't much to explore.
The beach authorities insist on charging a hefty entrance fee of 15 euros, claiming it is a private property, which seems quite unreasonable to us. We suggest considering other options for your travel plans.
