Barcola beach is located on the Adriatic Sea (part of Mediterranean Sea) and it is in the 26th place out of 26 beaches in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region 5.5 km away from its center, the city of Triest. It is one of the beaches of Contovello Kontovel settlement, just 2 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area. It is partially covered by trees which give natural shade.

It is a small several bays coastline with crystal blue water and bright sand & rocks cover, so it is recommended to wear special shoes. The entrance to the water is quite sharp. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is partially crowded during the high season.

I'll share my experience: We ordered two Spritz cocktails. I politely requested, Could you please add a little bit of granita to the glass and then pour in the contents of the can of Coke to fill it up? To my surprise and disappointment, the bartender consulted with a manager and informed me, We don't serve half portions. What?! Look, I'm willing to pay whatever you ask, but could you at least fulfill my simple request? You really need to work on attracting customers; I heard from my friends who live in Trieste that locals are used to it, but for those of us visiting from out of town, it's quite embarrassing!

This beach is highly recommended for dining, as they offer delicious food at reasonable prices! There is a kiosk conveniently situated just a short distance from the sea, although they only offer counter service rather than table service. The staff is very friendly, and you'll be pleased to find that the prices are quite affordable. In fact, you won't even notice the typical price hikes that often occur in both urban and coastal areas. I definitely recommend checking it out!
