In the latter half of August, the public beach was fairly busy and lacked any shower facilities. The ocean remained choppy throughout the duration of my visit and was home to numerous large purple jellyfish.
Although there were more beach vendors than at the private beaches, our experience wasn't too bad overall. We arrived around 10am on a weekend and still had enough space. The beach wasn't the cleanest due to some plastic and other rubbish in the sand, but it wasn't terrible. There's nearby car parking and it's definitely worth a visit if you're not looking to spend money on a private space at other beaches, although you won't have access to the same amenities such as a shower, bar, or water.
It's hard to believe that the entire stretch of Marina di Pietrasanta's coastline is monopolized by pay beaches run by the mafia. The rates for an umbrella and two beds in 2021 range from 48 to 60 euros per day, which is quite disappointing. The only free beach available is a small and not very clean corner that is always overcrowded. To make matters worse, you have to share this space with pushy vendors, dogs, and kids playing football. The sea looks dirty, with a black or green hue, and overall, I don't see any reason to visit the supposedly famous Versilia beaches.
The beach boasts a spacious area with ample room for visitors, even during peak hours. Additionally, the sand is a beautiful golden hue, providing a stunning backdrop for a day of relaxation.
Free to access without being overly crowded.
