Kaukelec beach is located on the Thrace Sea (part of Mediterranean Sea) and it is in the 28th place out of 185 beaches in the Thrace region 26.8 km away from its center, the city of Komotini. It is one of the beaches of Platanitis settlement, just 0.7 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area, among the mountains, surrounded by the cliffs.

It is a spacious coastline with crystal turquoise water and white pebble, so it is recommended to wear special shoes. The sharpness of entering the water is quite normal. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is not crowded place during the season.

Despite the fact that a significant part of the beach is occupied by resorts, there is still a fairly large area with free access. The beach facilities are only available to visitors of resort area. This review could have easily earned a perfect 5-star rating. The beach itself is truly breathtaking, with crystal clear waters and pristine sand stretching out as far as the eye can see. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, always eager to assist us in any way they could. The only downside for me was the presence of stones on the beach, which detracted slightly from the overall experience. However, even with this minor inconvenience, I would still highly recommend this beach to anyone looking for a truly unforgettable day in the sun.
