Looking for a beach that's not trying too hard to impress? Look no further than this unpretentious stretch of sand. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of some of the more touristy spots, it's perfect for those days when the wind is blowing from the northwest. Sure, the central part of the beach can sometimes be a bit grimy, but just head left and you'll find a hidden gem of a cove with crystal-clear waters and nary a soul in sight. It's the ideal spot for getting back to nature and experiencing the ocean in all its unadulterated glory.
This charming beach is a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. The water is pleasantly warm and the breeze is refreshingly cool. However, shaded areas are limited, so bringing an umbrella is advisable. Unfortunately, some litter can be found in the water and on the shore, but it doesn't detract too much from the overall experience.
Although the beach is serene and the water is pleasant, there are rocks, litter, and often an abundance of jellyfish in the water. Furthermore, there are no options for refreshments or food, and I do not think there are any public garbage cans. Nevertheless, the scenery is stunning.
I'm not sure what's going on with this beach. In order to get to the water, we had to walk through a shore that was over a meter long and filled with an unbelievable amount of garbage. Even the first few meters of water were dirty with plastic bags and other debris. Eventually, the water cleared up a bit, but it wasn't anything special compared to other beaches. It was a disappointing surprise considering we had high hopes for it.
During my visit to Vayonia in late October, the weather was still pleasantly warm. The bay was serene and peaceful, with no sunbeds or services available. While there wasn't much ground suitable for sunbathing, there were rocks and turf where you could sit and appreciate the beautiful emerald green and blue water of the rocky shelly bay. Snorkeling gear is definitely worth bringing, as there were schools of fish visible around the west side rock face. The water was mostly clear, especially farther out from shore and on days with low winds. The sun shone from morning until around 6pm, making it well worth the drive to visit. 😊
