There are unquestionably numerous stunning shorelines on the isles of both Lewis & Harris, but Seilebost stands out as truly unique. Arriving early ensured that it was devoid of any other visitors. Having such a magnificent beach all to yourself is truly a remarkable experience. I strongly suggest visiting this gem if you find yourself in the vicinity, you will not be let down!
Absolutely breathtaking. The white sands and emerald waters rival those of tropical destinations. It's hard to believe this is in the UK. Visiting in August, we experienced persistent rain and strong winds, all while the temperature reached 30 degrees in the North West UK. We spotted several large jellyfish in the water, along with a variety of other marine life washed up on the shore. The beach's scenery constantly changes with the rainfall, tides, and peat flowing into the waters. It's surreal to have such a stunning beach all to ourselves in August. No matter the weather, this place will leave you in awe.
One of our top picks and less crowded than the nearby Luskentyre, yet just as impressive. Park at the former Seilebost school (clearly marked from the main road) and take a brief stroll through the sand dunes to reach a vast beach. Keep in mind the significant tidal changes in water levels here, as well as the strong tidal currents if entering the water. Exercise caution and show respect for the water!
This beach is truly one of the best, not just in the area but worldwide. It looks stunning regardless of the weather. Pictures don't quite capture the incredible turquoise hue of the ocean.
Once named as one of the top 10 beaches globally, and once you arrive, you'll see why. Take a moment to appreciate the beach from the road that runs alongside the bay before stepping onto the pristine white sands. The breathtaking scenery and the experience of being on the beach itself is truly a moment you wish could last forever.
