The beach is lovely and there is a small parking lot on the opposite side of the road. It costs £1 for a two-hour stay. The beach is exceptionally clean and has recently installed steps for easy access.
The car park fee is reasonable, and you can pay with cash or card. The beach has a pleasant combination of sand and rocks, and the water remains shallow for a considerable distance. From the car park, you have the option to walk up the valley to witness two beautiful waterfalls. The path can be uneven and rocky at certain spots.
The car park lacks phone reception, making it difficult to pay using Google Pay. There is alternative parking available across the road. The beach is clean and offers a mix of sand, stones, and seaweed. There is ample space for everyone.
This beach is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking mountains surrounding it. It's definitely one of my top picks along the nc500 route.
The beach was fantastic - my wife took a short swim - remember to bring your water shoes as it has a mix of sand and pebbles. We didn't see anyone else on the beach during our visit, but it's understandable since there are no amenities. On the other side of the road, there is a paid parking lot which is safer in terms of traffic. Be cautious of horse flies - I got bitten a few times! From the viewpoint at Grunard beach, we could see a couple of other breathtaking beaches - definitely worth exploring!
