The beach was of adequate size, however, during our visit, it was not up to the mark in terms of cleanliness. It appeared as if there was some problem with the sewage system, which made us refrain from spending a considerable amount of time there.
The beach offers a lengthy stretch of soft, sandy shore. Regrettably, the vicinity surrounding Butlins is littered with a considerable amount of waste. The North Sea's frigid temperatures persist throughout the year, rendering the water quite chilly. Additionally, the water appears brown and murky due to the abundance of silt. While the wind turbines situated in the sea are undoubtedly beneficial for the environment, they detract from the picturesque view of the ocean.
The beach is immaculately clean, and there are a plethora of activities to enjoy along the waterfront. It's an ideal spot to soak up the sun, take a dip in the ocean, or participate in water sports. However, please be mindful to take your litter with you when you leave.
It seems that I arrived at an unfavorable time, as previous reviews often praised the pristine beach... I am uncertain which section they were referring to, as my experience today was quite the opposite. The beach was littered with debris and there was a large pile of rubbish on the right corner. I even spotted shards of broken glass scattered across the sand. If you venture towards the left side (coming from the road), the beach is tolerable as long as you don't approach the water. Unfortunately, the sea is currently contaminated with brown, foamy scum that I wouldn't advise anyone to swim in, especially not children. There are signs prohibiting dogs on the beach until October 1st at certain entrances. To clarify, this applies to the entire expansive section until the next protruding brick point on the left. It takes approximately 10-15 minutes to walk to this area using the pathway. Dogs are allowed on the beach beyond this point. There aren't many car parks in close proximity to the beach, but if you don't mind a 10-minute walk, Fantasy Island Car Park is located down the road and next to the amusement park. Parking fees do apply.
During the summertime, we adore this location, particularly due to its serene ambiance. Our accommodation is situated at Promenade Caravan Park, and the beach that lies just beyond it is breathtakingly beautiful. The entire stretch of the beach is usually well-maintained, but unfortunately, there are a few individuals who appear to be oblivious to the existence of trash cans.
