The beach is naturally beautiful with clean sea water, although it is located 1 hour away from the center of Marmaris. There are two ways to reach it, one being the Turunç road which is very mountainous and winding. Instead, I suggest taking the Datça road and then the Bozburun road, which is a more enjoyable route. However, the beach itself is quite rocky and not very satisfying. The village center is situated on a hill and has stores like A101 and Şok, but it is not suitable for a day trip. If you are looking to stay and relax for a while, this might be the perfect place for you as the village is generally peaceful.
Fortunately, the house we stayed in had a pool, which was a blessing since there was no suitable beach for swimming nearby. The entire beach was privately owned, but unfortunately, they had restricted access to their houses and the beach as their personal property.
What a charming village! It feels like stepping into a storybook from our childhood. I've only visited during the winter season, so I can't speak for the summer atmosphere. However, during the winter, it's peaceful and filled with the sounds of nature and animals. The almond trees and spring flowers in March create a beautiful scene. The sunsets here are absolutely breathtaking. Each day, it's like Helios himself is showcasing his artistic talents by painting the skies. It's a place that everyone should see at least once. I just hope that the city officials will prioritize preserving the beauty of this place instead of constructing unsightly, concrete homes. Unfortunately, I've noticed a rise in the construction of large houses and hotels, which is being done haphazardly without proper planning or involvement of civil engineers. They're even cutting down the magnificent millennial trees without replanting. It's disheartening to witness this disregard for nature. Destroying the village's natural surroundings and trees through the construction of unattractive structures is a surefire way to deter tourism, which is the village's sole source of income. I hope that the authorities will realize this soon and take necessary precautions before it's too late. It's a saddening thought.
It's an absolute paradise of seclusion. I truly hope it remains untouched by the selfish intentions of others. The dining establishments are exceptional, the locals are sincere and friendly, and the sunsets are absolutely awe-inspiring. The scenery is truly remarkable, with the sea boasting a pristine clarity. Additionally, the charming village farmers market is a sight of pure beauty. Söğüt holds a special place in my heart as my ultimate source of happiness 😀
Peaceful place
