Getting to this secluded beach is surprisingly easy, offering a glimpse of a precolonial landing spot on the warm African coast. Known for its shipwrecks, this stretch of coast is unique. To access Mzamba Beach, simply drive through the Wild Coast Sun resort (there is a R20 entrance fee per car) and park at the Wild Waves Water Park. From there, follow a relatively easy trail past the Mzamba River estuary to reach the beach. During low tide, you can explore the rocky outcrops on the nearby headland, which is home to the Mzamba Fossil bed where you can see petrified tree trunks, ammonites, turtles, and other fascinating finds. If you're up for it, continue walking about 3km from the start to discover the cliffs and cave overhangs known as White Man's Cave. Watching the groundwater seep through the bedrock and drip into the sea is a beautiful sight. When we visited, the beach was wild and secluded, with locals collecting seafood and a group of horses passing by. It was an educational day filled with rock pools, shells, fossils, and pristine nature. I highly recommend a visit.
