The sight from the main road is truly breathtaking, but our expectations were not met upon reaching the beach. To access Dong Beach, one must take a small path from Con Dao Center to Dam Tram. While the natural surroundings and scenery are impressive, the beach is unfortunately plagued by an excessive amount of plastic waste, including discarded masks, bottles, and bags. Additionally, there is a concerning amount of oil waste present. It is unclear who is responsible for this pollution, whether it be travelers or guests at nearby resorts. Regardless, it is imperative that those involved take greater care to preserve the pristine beauty of this beach and others like it.
It was truly disheartening to witness the sheer amount of litter scattered across Bai bien Dong beach. Interestingly, the beaches on the other end of the island were devoid of any such debris, leading me to ponder if the tide's direction during this time of year was responsible for the state of this particular beach. Our exploration of Dam Trau Beach further up north was equally underwhelming.
The tranquil beach is pleasant, however, regrettably, it is marred by an abundance of litter scattered about the shore.
To fully appreciate the beauty of this beach, it is recommended to dedicate a minimum of three hours to leisurely stroll along the lagoon. During your walk, you'll have the opportunity to observe the clam farmers at work. Unfortunately, the pollution levels are quite high in this area, which is a concern.
