Hon Gai beach is located on the South China Sea (part of Pacific ocean) and it is in the 6th place out of 30 beaches in the Quang Ninh region 5.4 km away from its center, the city of Ha Long. It is one of the beaches of Ha Long settlement, just 5.4 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area. It is partially covered by trees which give natural shade.

It is a spacious coastline with crystal turquoise water and white sand, so you don't need special shoes. The sharpness of entering the water is quite normal. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is not crowded place during the season.

The beach experience is decent, but the crowd swells in the evening. It's important to note that the security personnel may offer you water tires, but they come at a steep price of 100k per tire.

The absence of any signage outlining rules may seem liberating at first, but the security personnel are not known for their hospitable demeanor. Additionally, beach-goers are prohibited from having barbeques on the sand, and the limited availability of parking spaces is compounded by the plethora of no parking signs. It's important to be vigilant, as the security personnel may unexpectedly disrupt your enjoyment of the beach. This location is not ideal for hosting a gathering with loved ones, as my personal experience was marred by an abrupt request to relocate our barbeque to the sidewalk. No explanation was provided. If you're looking for a better spot to enjoy a beachside barbeque, consider Bai Chay beach.
