After enduring a lengthy journey on a rough road, we were delighted to finally arrive at the Sol Caribe hotel! The staff was incredibly friendly, and the location was absolutely stunning. We highly recommend waking up early to catch the breathtaking sunrise and enjoying a delicious breakfast with a view of the ocean. It truly felt like experiencing serendipity at its finest! If you're interested in tours, we suggest going with the cooperative in Punta Allen. The cost is 3,300 pesos for a group of six, or you can opt for a private tour at the same price. We were filled with joy, relaxation, and gratitude during our time there.
The beach offers a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature, with the presence of Ospreys fishing, Manatees, Dolphins, Loggerhead turtles, and it is especially enjoyable for fly fishermen. The staff, particularly Lupito, Carmen, and my friend Fernando, are amazing and they even made me the most delicious Mango birthday cake.
The beach has some outstanding qualities, including its tranquil and pristine natural surroundings, which are complemented by a traditional decor that blends well with the environment. It is a very small beach, often with only a few people, allowing for a peaceful and secluded experience. The beach's remote location attracts interesting guests from around the world who tend to stay for a while. The staff is laid-back and friendly, and they offer a fantastic local boat tour with a knowledgeable guide who provides fascinating information about the flora and fauna. The menu offers a variety of high-quality dishes, with something different every day, and the staff is willing to accommodate specific requests based on the available ingredients. Despite the absence of air conditioning, the constant breeze, especially in the oceanfront bungalow where we stayed, made it comfortable, even for someone like me who struggles to sleep in the heat. However, it is worth noting that the wind might be weaker in the buildings further back. There are a couple of things to be cautious about: having some command of Spanish is beneficial for more than basic interactions, and the journey to and from the beach, whether by boat or car, can be long and rough. However, this can be seen as a positive aspect as it filters out guests seeking convenience and quick access. It is important to keep in mind that this beach is essentially a wilderness hostel, so the amenities and other details are limited but they make the best of what is available. Despite this, the location itself is simply breathtaking, offering a much more relaxing and unspoiled natural environment compared to anywhere in the Riviera Maya north of the Biosphere boundary.
The beach is absolutely stunning and the rooms are fantastic. We gave it 3 stars because the price is quite high, and we recommend booking through a platform instead of directly with the property (we realized this would have saved us a lot of money). As for the continental breakfast (€40 for 2 people) and dinner, we suggest looking for other options as they are overpriced and not of great quality. The village of Punta Allan (a 30-minute drive away) offers much better dining choices. It seems like this hotel is more focused on making a quick profit and has forgotten the art of hospitality. Considering the price, we expected a bit more. We were unable to check in until 6pm and were promptly pushed out at 12, the designated checkout time. We were even directed to the reception to settle our food bill, as they assumed we wouldn't be ordering anything else. We paid $250 for a night excluding breakfast.
I recently stayed at Sol Caribe for four days and I absolutely loved it. Although the drive from Tulum was quite long, it was definitely worth it. The location of the beach resort is stunning. The staff at Sol Caribe were extremely kind and always ready to assist. Lupita, in particular, helped us arrange a fantastic 3-hour kayaking tour from Punta Allen. During the tour, we were able to see a variety of birds and fish that we had never seen before, which truly enhanced our trip. The restaurant at Sol Caribe served delicious and fresh food, and they were very accommodating to our dietary restrictions. Punta Allen itself is a peaceful fishing village with some excellent seafood restaurants. All in all, it was a fantastic place to visit.
