It seems that the owners have yet to understand the concept that you need to spend money to make money. The following issues are easily fixable but crucial if you want to take your property to the next level. These improvements would require a moderate investment: 1. Consider a large padlocked front entrance instead of the more traditional security setup. Even though you claim that this "resort" is very safe and secure, think about the importance of making a good first impression. 2. The plumbing was visibly coming out of the wall, posing a risk of significant damage. 3. There was no patio furniture in the screened-in patio area to fully enjoy the beautiful surroundings. 4. All the screen doors needed repairs, as did the sliders that were not sliding properly. 5. The restaurant was below average. They need a skilled chef who can prepare tasty meals. Keep in mind that you are 7 km away from the nearest grocery store, so it's advisable to stock up before your stay. 6. Our room was infested with bugs. 7. One small trash can is insufficient for this spacious condo. 8. The toilet was constantly leaking. 9. The interior wood doors are starting to delaminate. These are the main issues that require immediate attention, but there may be more. Keep in mind that this is a "resort" that charges over $100 per night. Currently, we believe that $40 USD per night would be a more reasonable rate than $100. In fact, we would not recommend staying here unless you find yourself stranded on the long, deserted road to Playa Maya and prefer not to camp with the local wildlife. There is potential to turn this place from a dump into a gem. At the moment, it seems that the owners are only concerned with the high room rates they are charging, which feel like a rip-off.
A secluded hotel located away from the hustle and bustle. Boasts a stunning beach where guests can bask in the splendor of the sea. However, the hotel itself appeared somewhat lacking. The focus seems to cater more towards families preparing their own meals, as the on-site restaurant leaves much to be desired. To put it bluntly, the dining experience is quite unpleasant. If you choose to stay here, it is advisable to bring your own food. The kitchen staff does not seem accustomed to preparing meals for guests to enjoy.
Tranquil, captivating retreat to escape from the hustle and bustle, located just steps away from the shoreline in a lush, tropical setting. The personnel were polite, although their proficiency in English was limited, providing an opportunity to brush up on your Spanish skills! The accommodations were spacious, featuring a well-equipped kitchen and a charming balcony. I would suggest this resort for families, especially if you prefer to prepare your own meals. However, the staff appeared unsure at times. The property boasted two inviting pools, but only one was operational. Additionally, there were bothersome, biting insects on the beach. Despite these minor inconveniences, we were able to enjoy a peaceful and rejuvenating stay.
Upon our arrival, the staff greeted us warmly, and we were impressed by the spacious and stunning room. However, our overall experience fell short of our expectations. It became apparent soon after checking in that hand towels and beach towels were not provided. The staff, lounging on couches near the entrance, seemed inconvenienced by our request for these items, despite my husband's fluent Spanish. The hotel's location, far from Celestun, made transportation a challenge, as scooter taxis were scarce. When we requested a taxi, the hotel arranged for a ride to town, but we felt overcharged by the driver. Dining options were limited to the hotel restaurant, where we enjoyed a good dinner. However, we were surprised to learn that we couldn't charge it to our room as promised during check-in, forcing us to pay in cash. Breakfast, served by a friendly server, was enjoyable but slow-paced. We had to repeatedly ask for basic items that should have been readily available. While we believe the restaurant has potential, we opted to cut our stay short and found a more affordable and superior accommodation closer to Celestun after just one night.
