Sour Beach has the potential to be a stunning beach, yet it is sadly marred by the amount of litter that litters its shores. It's a real pity.
We had an incredible experience at the beach in November - it was even warm enough to swim! The water was crystal clear and you could see the soft sandy bottom. It had a beautiful aquamarine hue and was so smooth and shallow. We had a wonderful time and hope to come back soon. We were able to sit on the beach for free and there was public access on the south side. We were able to walk up to the north end of the beach, where there were plenty of restaurants. We even went to a restaurant on the north side of the peninsula which was really nice. You can also get some great pictures from the nearby world heritage site ancient ruins.
Tyre's beach is truly remarkable, especially in September. It's a public area with a lengthy and wide shoreline. There are plenty of activities to do, such as beach tennis (palette) and kayaking or Paddle Boat. Unfortunately, the parking is not well managed by the municipality. Additionally, there are no strict rules and regulations set by the municipality regarding beach tennis players, the cleanliness of guests, boats coming close to the shore, as well as the noise and behavior of some people on the beach.
The waters here are some of the cleanest in Lebanon, so I like to come here with friends and family whenever we can make the journey from Beirut. It's the only place with clean white sands and the longest beach in Lebanon. You can bring your own food and umbrellas and sit on either side of the beach, or pay a small entrance fee for a table under a tent further away from the water. The city itself is the most affordable in Lebanon, and parking your car only costs 3 liras. Unfortunately, dogs are no longer allowed.
I'm absolutely smitten with this beach! The water is crystal clear and the sand is spotless. You do have to pay for a table and chairs, but you can either bring your own food or eat from the restaurant. It's the cleanest beach in Lebanon - I'm in love!
