This beach is like something out of a fairytale, however it can be quite uneventful during the summer months.
A stroll through the picturesque fishing village of Marta is the perfect way to end the day, with a peaceful moment spent on the beach admiring the tranquil lake and, if you're feeling adventurous, a refreshing dip in the water.
The beach was incredibly peaceful and tidy.
We took a scenic lakeside walk from Montefiascone to Marta, passing a pier and marina, and eventually arrived at the lakefront of Marta with its bars, restaurants, and market. On a particularly beautiful day, we decided to keep going and ended up at the foot of a long, steep staircase. Curiosity led us further to a beach called La Cava which was sadly abandoned. We could see the town of Capodimonte and the Bisentina island in the distance, but it wasn't clear if we could access the town from the beach. After a short walk, we couldn't find a way back to Marta, so we returned the way we came, leaving with a thousand questions and a tinge of disappointment. We hope to go back and explore further.
This beach has black sand and is accessible by foot via a set of stairs starting at the headland. During the week, you can enjoy the beach in peace and quiet, but on the weekends, you'll find yourself among the boats. The Italians usually arrive by motorboat and anchor off the beach, with up to 100 boats in the area. You can socialize in the water and watch the anchor attempts and maneuvers of the newly arriving mid-fifties, all while surrounded by boats.
