The beach was easily accessible and we arrived at around 5PM to witness its stunning beauty.
Nestled along a stunning cliff, this beach boasts a picturesque view and easy access from the main road. The pebbled ground gradually shifts from larger stones to smaller ones as it approaches the crystal-clear water. While boats frequently sail along the coast, they seldom dock directly on the beach to the east or on the pier to the west, allowing for a peaceful and serene atmosphere. Although the water may be choppy with frequent waves, it remains shallow for up to 20 feet, making it an ideal spot for younger children to play in. While snorkeling may require a bit of a trek towards the rocky shoals to the west, the abundance of fish in the area is worth the effort. While parking can be a challenge, options such as taking a boat from Amalfi for just $2 euro per person or utilizing the parking lot located west of the beach steps are available. Overall, this beach is a true gem and a must-visit destination for those seeking a tranquil and breathtaking escape.
In this location, there are three distinct areas accessible by boat, with a cost of 4 euros per person for a one-way trip along the coastline. Two of these areas are privately owned, while the middle area is open to the public. Visitors are welcome to bring their own umbrellas and relax on the public beach. During our visit, we arrived without prior reservations, and only one of the private beaches had available space. The cost for a sunbed and umbrella was 15 euros per person. We noticed that many people brought their own food and beverages, which is permitted. However, there is also a restaurant available for those who prefer to purchase food and drinks on-site. The prices are reasonable, with a beer and a large bottle of water costing only 7 euros, which is more affordable than prices we encountered in Capri.
This charming beach is a hidden gem, but beware of a potential scam at the entrance. The beach is divided into three sections, with two of them being privately owned by a hotel and two restaurants. Unfortunately, the hotel area is reserved for their guests only. Access to the beach can be gained by either taking a boat from Amalfi for 4 euros per person or walking down a staggering 460 steps from the road. To reach the entrance, you must head up the road from hotel Ninfa. One of the restaurants, Lido Degli Artisti, employs an attendant at the top of the steps who falsely claims that visitors must pay 30 euros per person for a sunlounger to use the steps down to the beach. However, the other restaurant, I Due Scugnizzi, charges half that amount (30 euros for 2 loungers and a parasol), and there is also a public section available. I Due Scugnizzi is a great spot for lunch, with simple yet delicious beach shack cuisine at reasonable prices. Despite the potential scam, the pebbled beach is beautiful, with crystal clear water. However, there are quite a few boats in the area, which is a common sight along the entire coast.
This beach is truly a gem! You can reach it via two routes - either climb the 400 stairs or take the ferry for a mere 2 euros. To fully enjoy your day, I suggest investing in the beach hammocks which cost around 30-35 euros for two. Without them, the free space can get quite crowded and cramped. While the lunch options are not particularly pricey, the food itself is not very appetizing, so it's best to bring your own. Instead, kick back with a refreshing drink and relax in your hammock for the ultimate beach experience.
