This secluded beach is a true hidden gem, but reaching it requires a bit of effort. To get there, you must navigate a steep descent of 700 steps from the village parking area, followed by a challenging ascent back up. Keep in mind that a reservation is necessary to access this stunning spot, but it won't cost you a penny.
We highly suggest wearing sturdy hiking shoes when embarking on the 600-step journey to reach this beach. The terrain can be quite rugged at times, but the reward is well worth it. Although it may seem daunting to climb back up the steps after a day of sun and sand, there is a cozy café waiting for you at the top where you can quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger. Alternatively, a ferry occasionally makes its way to the beach if you prefer a more leisurely mode of transportation. While some have claimed that reserving a spot on the beach beforehand is necessary, we found that to be unnecessary as no one even checked.
If you're up for a bit of an adventure, the beach is definitely worth the climb up the mountain. However, during peak season, it's important to book your access ahead of time to avoid disappointment. Don't forget to bring your own supplies, including an umbrella, food, and drinks, as there's no natural shade to be found. Overall, it's a unique and rewarding experience that's well worth the effort.
The beach is an absolute paradise with breathtaking scenery and an ideal spot for snorkelling, freediving, and swimming. I was fascinated by the diverse marine life that I encountered during my visit. However, it is important to note that the only way to access this beach is via a narrow staircase that can be quite steep. The descent from 230m to the sea level is a considerable distance, so it is advisable to wear comfortable walking shoes.
The beach offers breathtaking vistas and a serene atmosphere with a noticeable absence of children. Although it is a popular destination, it is not overly crowded. The waves are powerful, providing a thrilling experience for those who enjoy them. It is advisable to bring a source of shade and water to make the most of your time there. You can reach the beach by hiking from Montemarcello or by taking advantage of the boat service. The surface of the beach is comprised of fine black gravel, with varying elevations.
