Although there was no hot water available during my visit in October, I highly recommend taking a stroll through the small gate on the stairs and following the path along the coast. The views are absolutely stunning and there are plenty of opportunities for a lovely picnic. Just make sure to bring your own beverages and snacks as there are no restaurants or bars in the area. Overall, I would rate this walk a 5-star experience.
When planning a trip to Therma beach in Kalymnos, it's important to note that the images you may have seen online are actually of Kos, not Kalymnos. To avoid any confusion, I have included authentic photos of the genuine beach for your reference.
The pool water is absolutely delightful and warm, providing a truly relaxing experience. While it may get crowded during peak season, visiting towards the end of September allowed for plenty of space to unwind. However, it's worth noting that the unpleasant smell emanating from the gases used to heat the water can be off-putting. Additionally, be prepared for a bit of a trek up the hill to reach the main road. It's also advisable to remove any jewelry before taking a dip, as it may tarnish in the water. Despite these minor inconveniences, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the beach and could easily spend all day there without a care in the world.
The beach is an exquisite destination that boasts a magnificent sea, which is a natural thermal spring. The warm and inviting waters provide an unparalleled experience that is sure to leave visitors in awe. Additionally, the beach features a charming restaurant that is located a short distance away, providing guests with a delightful culinary experience. However, my rating is slightly lower due to the dilapidated state of the toilets and abandoned buildings that have remained unchanged for years. Despite this, I have been visiting this beach for two decades, and it remains a popular attraction in Kos.
The beach is divided into two sections: the cove that can be reached under the road bridge before Therma, and the platform and small beach at Therma. Both areas are equipped with a cafe that offers refreshing drinks, ice cream, and basic food items. The cove is more suitable for families with young children, as the beach has a gradual slope. Snorkeling enthusiasts can spot some fish in the area, but the real highlight is the annual free diving contest held from the floating platform.
