Upon our arrival via an island hopping boat excursion, we stumbled upon a hidden gem of a beach nestled within a petite bay. The beach boasted sun beds and patches of sand, all surrounded by crystal clear waters that beckoned for a refreshing dip. Although a beach bar was available, the prices were quite steep and the food options were rather standard and lacked inspiration. Nevertheless, this beach remains a popular destination, largely due to its feature in the beloved film Mama Mia.
The beach was truly stunning, however, the waves were quite strong during our visit. The path leading to the beach was a bit steep, but it was worth the effort to reach such a picturesque location.
The beach is quite pleasant, although it can get quite crowded when the tourist boats dock. The background music is not too overpowering, and it is a wonderful spot to visit during the sunset.
This particular beach in Skopelos is quite popular and commercial, especially since it was featured in the famous movie, Mamma Mia. Due to its fame, it can be a bit crowded at times, but the stunning view of the surrounding landscape more than makes up for it. If you do decide to visit, be sure to catch the breathtaking sunset. Keep in mind that there are no tavernas available on the beach, but there is a beach bar that serves pizza, sandwiches, tortillas, and Greek salad.
In terms of its natural beauty, the beach is decent. However, in reality, it has become a highly commercialized and overcrowded destination, with exorbitant prices for umbrellas and a single loud beach bar dominating the scene. Additionally, there is a constant stream of boats bringing in more and more people, making the already crowded beach even more hectic. Despite promoting itself as a Mamma Mia beach, there is hardly any evidence of the movie's presence there, with the pier long gone and no songs from the film played at the bar. For a much more enjoyable experience, it would be wise to opt for nearby Panormos beach, which offers free sun beds and umbrellas, a market, and several tavernas to choose from.
