The beach appears to be in a state of disrepair, with a deserted atmosphere that suggests it has been abandoned for quite some time. The extent of the damage is such that it may take years to restore it to its former glory. Unfortunately, the entire stretch of coastline is currently inaccessible, which may make one wonder if January is the best time to plan a visit to the beach.
While it may not be the most stunning beach on the island, it is certainly convenient due to its easy accessibility from both the port and city center.
To be honest, I was blown away by the quality of this beach. The entrance fee was only 1€ and there were no additional charges for sunbeds, umbrellas, or showers. Plus, you have the option to sit at the front bar while enjoying a variety of ice cream flavors and cocktails. It's no surprise that this beach is the most popular in Mytilene due to its central location. I spent my Saturday afternoon here while waiting for my ferry and it provided a peaceful and relaxing experience. Although there are some stones and sea urchins in the water, it's still crystal clear and pristine (earning it a blue flag beach designation).
Upon arrival at the beach, we were charged a nominal fee of 1€ per person and 0.50€ per child, which we found to be quite reasonable. To keep ourselves active and entertained, we made use of the beach volleyball equipment. It was an invigorating way to spend an afternoon in the heart of the city, right by the beach. One of the best features of this beach was that the use of umbrellas and sunbeds was included in the entrance fee. However, we were informed that we needed to order some drinks or food to avail of this facility. We opted for an iced coffee, which was priced at a reasonable 2€. The water at the beach was crystal clear, but we noticed that the beach was rocky and not sandy. There were changing rooms and showers available for our convenience. Although the toilets were a bit cramped, we managed to use them comfortably. The door opening inside the toilet was a bit of a hassle, but it was a minor inconvenience. We were pleased to find a playground and shaded tables under the trees, which provided a perfect spot to relax and unwind. The beach was also equipped with a lifeguard tower and a bar, which was an added bonus. Overall, we had a pleasant experience at this beach and would recommend it to others.
The beach offers a pleasant ambiance with crystal clear waters that invite you to take a dip. However, the presence of a large number of children creates a bustling atmosphere that may not be suitable for those seeking solitude. Despite this, the admission fee of 1 euro is a fair price for the amenities provided.
