In the midst of October, the ocean was delightfully temperate for a refreshing dip - the serene beach was like paradise. We visited twice, both occasions at approximately 9 o'clock.
Prepare to be swept off your feet by the slightly turbulent waters of this beach. For the low, low price of 45€, you can secure two sunbeds and an umbrella to shield you from the sun's rays. Want to save a few euros? Opt for the 10€ umbrella and use your towels on the public side of the beach. While this may not be your typical sandy beach, it certainly beats out the competition. And let's not forget about the stunning views, particularly of the sea. So grab your sunscreen and head on over to this gem of a beach.
Plaza Banje, situated outside the old town, is the most proximate beach to the city. However, it tends to get overcrowded and may not be as pristine as one would expect. Additionally, if you plan on lounging on a sunbed, the prices are quite steep. If you're seeking more picturesque beaches, Sveti Jakov in Dubrovnik is a better option to consider.
The beach access is quite expensive, but the view is worth it. It's the nearest beach to Old Town Dubrovnik, and it has a spacious bar area with indoor and outdoor seating. If you're planning on going, make sure to spend a few hours there to get your money's worth since the price for a chair and umbrella is quite high. The drink menu is decently sized, and the prices are above average but not exorbitant. We didn't try the food, but there were plenty of sandwich and salad options available. The beach is rocky, which is typical for most beaches along the coast, but the water is crystal clear and refreshing on a hot day. The service can be a bit slow, so you may need to go up to the bar yourself. Additionally, there were only a few beach chairs available on a weekday afternoon in June, so it's best to arrive early if you want to secure a spot.
The beach in the center of Dubrovnik is nothing but a tourist trap. Sure, it may have a few stones and a bit of sand, but it's hardly worth the trouble. The only redeeming quality is the view of the old town, but even that can't make up for the exorbitant cost of sunbeds and umbrellas. And don't even think about going after 10 am - it's like a sardine can on that beach. The lounge bar may have decent espresso and drinks, but it's not worth fighting the crowds to get there. Save yourself the hassle and skip this overrated beach altogether.
