We do security work at that beach twice a year. It's a stunning beach that isn't too crowded, but the main issue is the guys on bikes who don't stop for pedestrians.
The beach, named after its renowned train trestles, requires quite a long walk from the available parking, but it is definitely worth it! It is a beloved spot for local surfers, with its untouched natural beauty and rugged rocky shoreline. Although wearing surf booties or water shoes may not look fashionable, they are essential if you plan on entering the water. Additionally, this beach has hosted numerous prestigious surf competitions. While it may not be easily accessible, if you are physically fit and don't mind the 0.81-mile round trip hike, it is an incredible experience that you should definitely have in Southern California.
The beach is extremely rocky and the waves are quite challenging. The effort required to hike to the beach is not worth it. The porta-potties are absolutely disgusting and there are reports of shark sightings. It would be better to visit other beaches that have actual sandy shores, more people, better facilities, and less risk.
I absolutely adore this surfing spot! I'm incredibly fortunate to live just a short 20-minute drive away. It's an absolute blast when the waves are massive! I highly recommend it to all the surfing enthusiasts out there who are seeking an exceptional spot to catch some waves!
This beach may not be suitable for everyone due to its location, as it requires a nearly half-mile walk from the parking area. However, this could be one of the reasons why it has maintained its reputation as an amazing beach. The parking lot is conveniently located right off the freeway. When we arrived on a Saturday around 10:30, there were only about 15 parking spots left in the paid lot. All of the free street parking was already occupied. During part of the walk, you will share a pathway with coastal bike riders. After that, you will need to veer right for a couple of hundred yards until you reach the train trestle and finally the beach. This beach has a very relaxed atmosphere. There are plenty of waves and surfers, but the sand is not crowded at all. There were very few children around. Overall, it is a beautiful and laid-back beach. For convenience, there are porta potties available near the trestles and in the parking lot. If you are walking, make sure to be aware of bikes approaching from behind.
