The boardwalk, including the nature preserve, has been increasingly crowded. It's becoming more difficult to ride a bike on weekends without having to stop multiple times due to people not paying attention, even in the designated bike lanes. I've been living in Rockaway for a long time, about two years before Rockaway Playland closed, and it's now as crowded as it was back then. The construction work on the cement seawall has really picked up in the past few months. Today's photo.
Rockaway Beach is a surfer's paradise with its relaxed vibe and great waves, making it the perfect spot for surfers of all levels to enjoy the beauty of the ocean.
The beach is pleasant with good waves - it would be beneficial to have lifeguards on duty during the busy summer months. The waves are enjoyable for those who appreciate them.
Rockaway Beach is absolutely stunning! The water is clean and the waves are perfect for surfing. There is a convenient parking lot available for visitors. Along the boardwalk, you will find charming little shops where you can grab food, drinks, and even enjoy some live music and dancing. If you don't have a car, no worries - you can easily access the beach via train or ferry. I highly recommend taking the ferry for a scenic and quick ride with breathtaking views. Rockaway Beach is also family-friendly, making it a great destination for all ages.
Rockaway Beach is definitely the top beach in NYC, and it also boasts the second longest boardwalk in the country. Whether you enjoy surfing, biking, or simply taking a relaxing walk by the water, this is the perfect spot for you. Plus, there are plenty of great food options at the concessions stands.
