A very picturesque harbour located just outside the town centre of Stonehaven. Very clean area, beautiful views, and many things to explore. Try out a few of the bars around the Harbour, grab something to eat and enjoy the sea air. Do walk back along the sea front though! The boat sculptures are worth the walk.
We really love to visit Stonehaven and it's beautiful harbour. We usually park at the harbour, it's limited but free there so try and arrive early especially on a sunny day. If you walk all around the harbour there is a path up and you can walk all the way to Dunnotar castle. You get a fantastic view of the harbour from the top. Back at the harbour you can get a much earned coffee or beer at one of the pubs or we usually use the coffee shop. There is also an interesting museum at the harbour to. The harbour itself has a lovely sandy beach which is popular with families with young children. Definitely one of my favourite places in Scotland.
Such a lovely wee area and busy with locals as well as tourists and day trippers like us. So many nice restaurants and cafes to choose from and lots going on in the harbour itself. Great museum with free entry here and just over 2 miles walk to Dunnottar War Memorial and Castle from here
Simply stunning, what a beautiful place to visit and the restaurants were excellent also as was the local fish and chip takeaway including the fried Mars Bar.
We enjoyed our short visit. Not a big place, but pleasant enough. Not as good as the advertising suggests though. Free parking which is always a plus.
