This secluded beach is perfect for swimming and snorkeling, with beautiful coral reefs to explore. The shoreline can be rocky during low tide, but remains visible even at high tide. The area near The Sanctuary resort is ideal for sunbathing and swimming, with detox and yoga programs available. The resort also offers a spa with steam room and massage sessions, as well as a beachside restaurant and bar. For dining options, the restaurant "Spice" offers traditional Thai and seafood dishes. A steep stairway at the corner of Had Tien beach leads to Had Yuan beach, where a hiking trail offers stunning views of Koh Phangan. The hike to Had Rin on the other side of the island takes about 1.5 hours.
I'm sure a lot has changed since I visited in 2000, but it was such a peaceful and hidden gem back then.
The only beach area is in front of the Sanctuary Resort, the rest of the beach is quite rocky. It is very calm and there is a pontoon available.
I walked from Haad Yuan Beach to Haad Thien Beach, which only takes about 5-15 minutes along a scenic path that goes up and down. You can easily follow the coast and enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean, huts, and lush greenery. Along the way, you'll come across Eden's Garden where you might be able to grab a drink depending on the time of day. If not, you can continue to Haad Thien Beach where there is a delicious restaurant and bar with a view of the ocean at one end of the beach. While the beach itself may not be as nice as Haad Yuan with fewer rocks and shells, it's still worth a visit if you have the time. The beach has great parties and a peaceful sanctuary.
