We visited Bonaire for the first time last week and had an amazing experience at Harbour Village. We are a family of four with two grown teenage boys and the two bedroom suite was perfect for us. The resort is very well maintained, from the grounds, to the rooms, to the beach. The staff was so friendly and attentive. The resort is well suited for divers and non-divers (our family is a mix). The beach and pools are quiet and secluded. The perfect place to spend the day if you are looking to relax and recharge. Pepe and the dive staff were top notch. We joined several boat dives and thoroughly enjoyed the guided sites that were generally less accessible from the shore. We also did a lot of self-guided shore diving and the tank exchange program at the resort was effortless. We talked to several other guests who said they come to Bonaire regularly and they only stay at Harbour Village. Now I understand why! We will definitely come back to Bonaire and we will definitely stay at Harbour Village
This was a perfect place for me and my husband to stay. Perfect location with private beach, and multilayered rancho style of the hotel. Just so to be clear it is not standard hotel with elevators. Will not be suitable for older people since they would have to go stairs on foot. But itnwas perfect for us. We were on the second floor, but the hotel workers took all our luggage upstairs. We just had to carry ourselves. The best thing was that they had a restaurant right at their beach, and we didn't have to go anywhere far for food unless we decide to explore around. Restaurant became favorite for me, it was decent for lunch and dinner. Usually I'm not happy with breakfasts outside because I always make better. This depends on a person. Their pastry was really good, they have fish of the day - fresh catch. We were lucky to get unexpected catch, lobster, right out of the sea and the chef Gabriel made superb dish for us. It was our honeymoon, became a special treat. Gisele, our waitres, was really attentive and made our experience even better. I just loved the restaurant on a small pier looking like a pirate ship. I was there at least once a day, I just had to set my foot on that pirate ship. They also provide service right on the beach, which was nice to order drinks and enjoy beach time in our swimsuits. We definitely we'll be going back there.
Gotta love a condo within a resort! We had the conveniences of home while being steps from a private sandy beach where I saw more fauna than anywhere else on the island (2x octopus, huge eels and sea cucumbers, spotted drum, lion fish, scorpion fish, conch, and massive tarpon, flounders, puffers, angels, anemone and parrot fish). Plus daily housekeeping, room service, beach service, spa, dive shop, boat trips, and souvenir/sundry shop. Another great feature is that 100% of the beach chairs, tables, and hammocks are shaded by dense palm trees, while at peak hours during peak spring break only 20% were taken. There was always a table at the restaurant (which had great service, great breakfast, good lunch, and passable dinner). Plus loads of great dining within walking distance, but with so much easy parking in Bonaire (even downtown) and driving on the right, you could easily get almost anywhere in 15 minutes. This is now our second favorite lodging of all our travels. The only negative is laundry... there are no washer dryers in the beachfront condos (even paid) and while they have laundry service, it's not included and you have to fill out a form (we had 1 day turnaround). Our favorite place (Tulemar in Costa Rica) has the same amenities (except the fauna is on land) but instructs you to leave your clothes on the bathroom floor and they bring them back clean (included in price).
The hotel is situated on a fantastic beach, it is really wonderful. The dive club organises really good excursions for snorkeling, we went to Andrea 2 and it was great, in front of the hotel you can snorkel, but it is for very inexperienced snorkelers and is limited. The reception staff are great and very helpful, so are the maintenance. The restaurant staff are ok, but young and not experienced. The gym is OK but a bit dated, but everything you need is available. The hotel restaurant is expensive and does not use great quality products, (but this seems to be throughout Bonaire, so maybe its an import issue ). The rooms are a bit dated and could do with a refurbishment. Also on our category of room there was none available with a double bed, so we had to sleep separately, not very romantic.
We were on the island eight days, eating in a different nice restaurant every night. LA Balandra was the best experience - great food, great service, great atmosphere! Was so good, was the only place we visited twice (lunch our last day).
