If you're looking for a peaceful and expansive beach, this is the perfect spot for you. If you're in need of amenities, Frankfort is the place to go. However, this beach is absolutely wonderful for unwinding and enjoying a stunning sunset without the hustle and bustle of crowds. It's definitely one of my favorite beaches that doesn't require any hiking (although you can walk quite a distance along the beach if you wish!).
The beach is amazing! I would definitely give it a perfect score of 5 out of 5. It's incredibly spacious, allowing you to have plenty of room to relax and avoid the crowds. Although it takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to the beach, it's definitely worth it. I recently visited during the busiest time of the year, and while the parking can get a bit crowded, I highly recommend arriving early. One major advantage is that the beach is dog-friendly, which is a huge plus!
This review might come across as a bit unfair, but I want to be honest and explain my thoughts. The beach is actually quite nice and has its advantages. It's not as crowded, so if you're not a fan of crowds, you might prefer it here. The beach stretches out for a long distance, allowing plenty of space to spread out. The view of Lake Michigan is always beautiful. Additionally, dogs are allowed on the beach. Now, let's talk about the negatives. It takes about 3 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the beach, which may not be a big deal, but the path is uneven. The drive down to the beach is on a crazy road with a steep incline and twists. While the view is pretty, it's a bit underwhelming compared to other nearby beaches. Overall, I would rate this beach as a 3-star experience. This is mainly because there are other beaches in the area that are fantastic and very close by, such as Frankfort Beach and Point Betsie Lighthouse Beach. If those beaches were further away, maybe around 30 minutes instead of 8 and 20, I would probably give this beach a 4-star rating. But if you prefer this beach, more power to you.
The view from the overlook was absolutely stunning! We managed to capture some incredible shots of our Corvette and the surrounding scenery. The stroll to the end of the pier was truly breathtaking! We were treated to the sight of numerous schools of fish. We thoroughly enjoyed the beach area and found the locals to be incredibly friendly and knowledgeable.
To be honest, I'm not sure if it's the time of year or simply the day, but it was pleasantly cool and stunningly beautiful. The location offers a scenic view of both the lake and harbor. Afterwards, you can easily drive down to the beach area and enjoy a leisurely stroll on the pier or along the sandy shore. The water has a lovely green hue and the beach itself is well-maintained and clean. I can't think of any problems or concerns. Additionally, there are plenty of dunes where you can take a relaxing walk or simply unwind. Overall, it's a great spot for a secluded family getaway!
