Latest reviews on Ja-ela's beaches

Browns Beach

Negombo's beach is undoubtedly the town's most renowned attraction, drawing in a plethora of tourists seeking a relaxing getaway. This beach is equipped with top-notch facilities, making it an ideal destination for those looking to unwind and spend quality time. It's conveniently located near the Katunayake International Airport, making it an accessible location for international visitors.

Preethipura Beach

This beach is a secure location to take a dip in the ocean, however, the water is heavily contaminated, making it unsuitable for swimming. Although, many families were present, it is not recommended for bathing. It is safe to bring children to play in the sand. Additionally, a navy camp is situated nearby, providing ample protection. Unfortunately, there are no lifeguards on duty. Several shops offer a variety of seafood such as crabs, prawns, and fried fish, as well as soft drinks, ice cream, rotee, and wade-like foods. It is best to travel by private vehicle or taxi, as public transportation is unreliable. The highlight of this beach is undoubtedly the stunning sunset view. Thank you.

Uswetakeiyawa Beach

This serene beach spot is a perfect spot for a refreshing swim. The locals affectionately refer to it as besama (බේසම) and it offers a safe and secure place to take a dip in the ocean. After your swim, you can rinse off with tap water in a nearby shower. For a small fee, you can also use the shower in the house next to the shop. However, it's important to remember to stay within the boundaries of the beach as the waves can be rough. Avoid venturing too far out beyond the rock outline to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Morawala Beach

This beach is not the best spot for swimming and unwinding as the water currents are quite strong and the wind can be quite forceful. Additionally, the shoreline is not sandy but rather rocky, and it's a popular spot for fishermen to cast their lines in the morning. However, I did have the opportunity to purchase some delicious fresh fish and oysters from the local vendors.

Galle Face Beach

This is a great spot for taking a leisurely stroll and unwinding. Children can frolic on the lush grass and fly kites. It's also suitable for jogging and working out. However, it can get quite crowded on weekends. Additionally, there are a few snack vendors available.

Bopitiya Beach

This beach is a great spot to unwind and relax, but it's important to note that swimming or bathing in the sea here can be extremely hazardous.
