The labeling of this beach near Awhitu house & Brook homestead is incorrect. It should be noted that Matakawau beach is located on Matakawau road.

This beach is the most incredible I've ever seen. It was a bit chilly when we visited in the morning, but I would have stayed all day if it was warmer. The black sand is incredibly soft, almost like powder. I've never seen anything like it before.
