We spent a delightful two weeks at this beach resort during the 2023 New Year festivities. The waves were consistently high, reaching several feet over our heads every day! These powerful waves are perfect for experienced surfers seeking an adrenaline rush. There are also several hidden spots nearby accessible by a short car ride. The sand is black due to the presence of volcanoes in the area, but it is soft and powdery when dry, just like regular sand. The local restaurants served fresh and delicious food at reasonable prices, and the locals were hospitable and welcoming. We also had the opportunity to explore the Mayan ruins and coffee plantations, both of which were unforgettable experiences! We are already planning our next trip back to this wonderful beach paradise.
