Update - abundant algae along the shore and has a foul odor. I have included videos. June 25, 2023. Being the lengthiest freshwater beach in Canada 🇨🇦, it is worth a visit. After numerous visits over the years, I must say that this year there is a peculiar dark film along the water's edge emitting an unpleasant smell. The reason behind this remains unknown, but it is quite unpleasant. Despite this, Beach 1 is perfect for lively young crowds, shopping, and a wide variety of dining options including fast food and, of course, ice cream. I believe Beach 3 or 4 is dog-friendly, so we tend to avoid those to prevent getting sand sprayed on us. The parking lots cost around $20 per day. The breathtaking views and usually pleasant breeze help keep bugs at bay. For those unfamiliar with the area, the water remains shallow for a considerable distance, making it warmer than other lakes and bays in the vicinity. This makes it ideal for children and playing frisbee in the water on hot days. Enjoy!
We were trying to find our way to the Blue Mountains when Google led us to Council Beach. We ended up on the road and had to pull over to the right, where we found a small sandy area with swings for children to play on. There were only two cars and a few other people who seemed to have stumbled upon the beach like we did. 😄
