Our time at Marina Cay was truly incredible! Both Kimberly at the bar and Nica in the restaurant provided exceptional service. The ongoing restoration of Marina Cay is definitely heading towards greatness, if not surpassing its previous glory!
The newly opened restaurantis absolutely fantastic. It's operated by the Marriott on the nearby Scrub Island and is a definite must-visit. The atmosphere is exceptional. Located right on the beach, with the gentle crashing of waves and enjoyable lighting, among other things. The service is outstanding. As we were there on our honeymoon, they were kind enough to bring us complimentary drinks. The food is enjoyable, especially the seafood bowl which is excellent. You must not miss out on the white chocolate ice cream, as well as the various sorbets. They offer complimentary smores on the beach by their firepits, which is really cool. The manager is incredibly friendly, making the experience even better. I highly recommend it.
It's unfortunate that it no longer exists, but I have vivid memories of this beach back in '96 when it was known as Cuervo Nation. The food and drinks were amazing, and I particularly enjoyed showering outdoors while gazing at the reef and swimming alongside groups of squid. I really hope that one day it will be reconstructed because it truly is one of the most breathtaking destinations on the planet.
I hope that the good people in the British Virgin Islands are able to successfully rebuild and revitalize their businesses after the destructive hurricanes. My initial visit to Marina Cay was in 1972, when it was a simple anchorage without any mooring balls and limited food options. I instantly fell in love with the cozy and stunning anchorage, and over the years, my affection for it has only grown. The locals have always been welcoming, and the service provided has been outstanding. If you are a sailor, I highly recommend making a stop here during your travels to appreciate the extraordinary scenery.
I really enjoyed snorkeling around the island, especially on the northeastern side where the snorkeling gear was top-notch. It was incredibly convenient to catch the ferry to Tortolla from this beach. The drinks were excellent as well. The only reason I am not giving this place a higher rating is because of the food. I ordered a 2 lb lobster, but it turned out to be smaller than the 1 lb lobster we had at Foxy's. We were a group of six, and after trying out various restaurants, we all agreed that this was our least favorite. Perhaps we caught them on a bad night.
