As a Puerto Rican, I am grateful for the unspoken agreement among my people that we will always find a way to access our beautiful beaches. Even if the government fails to provide proper access, we will create our own path and relish in the natural wonder that belongs to us. Las Playas son del Pueblo!
Ideal for families with children, this beach boasts a vast shallow area that stretches for over 50 feet before it reaches a depth of 4 feet. While snorkeling is available, it may not be the best option when waves are high. Additionally, the beach features a strong current that flows from east to west, which can be exhilarating to ride. However, it is essential to exit in a timely manner, but this is not a concern as the water is quite shallow at the end.
I absolutely adore visiting this beach. The sandy parking lot near Marilyn's is the perfect spot to leave your car, although it's worth noting that parking may come with a fee at times. One of the most unique features of this beach is the barrier rocks that create a secluded area for swimming along the north coast. If you're feeling peckish, there are plenty of restaurants located nearby to grab a bite to eat. On the western side of the beach, there are some areas for basic snorkeling, but it's important to be mindful of the current. Alternatively, if you're looking for a more serene experience, the tidal pool area to the East offers even calmer waters and a more private atmosphere.
This beach is hands down my preferred spot on the whole island. It caters to everyone in the family! The tranquil waters make it an ideal spot for kids to frolic around. The sand is spotless and the water is shallow. For those who want to try their hand at surfing, the small waves are perfect. When the water is calm, the snorkeling experience is simply breathtaking. Parking is never an issue as there are many spots available. Even though it is frequently visited, it never seems too busy or overcrowded. The rip tide is present towards the east, so if you are not a strong swimmer, it is best to stay towards the west. However, the rip tide passes over some shallow sandy areas. My children had a blast riding the water slide with their life jackets on. It is important to be cautious during high tide, even on the right side of the beach, as water can come crashing over the rocks. But do not let that deter you from enjoying this wonderful beach!
Our experience at the beach was nothing short of amazing. We witnessed people lounging in the water with their beach chairs, enjoying the shallow depths. The refreshing sensation was simply delightful. Don't forget to follow me on Tiktok: @imjusttee527.
