Grasstree Beach is located on the CoralSea and it is in the 8th place out of 12 beaches in the Mackay region The beach is located in an urban area, surrounded by the cliffs. It is partially covered by trees which give natural shade.

It is a spacious coastline with turquoise water and bright sand, so you don't need special shoes. The entrance to the water is very smooth. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is not crowded place during the season.

Grasstree Beach coast is free for all. It has no amenities, only nature, changing rooms, showers, toilets. .

Grasstree Beach itself is pretty boring. There is a deep water creek where the fishing fleet used to tie up to rickety home made jetties. Mostly they are gone but private pleasure boats have taken their place. The fishing is, if not good, at least it is a way to spend a quiet hour or two in the sunlight.

Great beach, just a shame that there is no store to get a meal, I have heard that a lady might have a truck that goes there but hasn't seen it yet. There are even the annual beach races that are a lot of fun.
