Located in close proximity to the highway, this beach boasts a serene and picturesque atmosphere that is devoid of any tourist crowds. The towering cliff on one side of the beach adds to its natural beauty, creating a breathtaking backdrop for visitors to enjoy. The beach is mostly frequented by local fishermen, who can be observed going about their daily routines.
This beach is a hidden gem, with fewer crowds and less notoriety than others in the area. The sunsets here are truly breathtaking, and the beach offers a generous expanse for leisurely strolls or invigorating runs. However, it's important to exercise caution before taking a dip in the water - during monsoon season, the currents can be dangerous. Be sure to check the distance of the water before taking the plunge.
Dhareshwar beach, situated approximately 15 kilometres from Kumta in Uttar Kannada, can be effortlessly accessed via National Highway 66 with a 10-minute drive from Kumta. This pristine beach boasts of its natural beauty and cleanliness. During our visit, the beach was not crowded, which made it an ideal spot for a peaceful getaway. The sunset view was breathtakingly beautiful, making it a perfect place for nature lovers. Apart from its scenic beauty, Dhareshwar is also known for its spiritual significance, thanks to the ancient Shiva temple located nearby. Although there are no restaurants on the beach, small shops situated 100 metres away provide basic amenities. If you are planning to spend more time here, there are a few resorts and lodges available within a 10-kilometre radius.
The beach can be easily accessed by car. The verdant hill adjacent to the beach enhances its appeal and aesthetic. However, the beach is not well-maintained and cleanliness is a concern. The presence of stray dogs on the beach can be intimidating and detracts from the overall experience. A more serene and picturesque alternative is Ramanagindi beach, located on the opposite side of the hill.
