Makris Gialos is located on the Ionian Sea (part of Mediterranean Sea) and it is in the 203th place out of 504 beaches in the Ioanian Islands region 206 km away from its center, the city of Κέρκυρα. It is one of the beaches of Mikro Nisi settlement, just 0.6 km from its center. The beach is located in a natural place, among the mountains. It is partially covered by trees which give natural shade.

It is a small bay with crystal turquoise water and light pebble, so it is recommended to wear special shoes. The sharpness of entering the water is quite normal. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is not crowded place during the season.

Towards the end of the season, we stumbled upon the most serene and beautiful beach. It was the perfect spot to take a refreshing dip and unwind under the sun. We enjoyed our time here so much that we returned for two consecutive days. The beach is well-shaded by the cliff that extends across the middle and far end of the shore. However, we may have underestimated the strength of the sun, as we woke up this morning with a painful sunburn. Despite this, we would definitely include this beach in our itinerary if we ever return to Zante.

This charming pebble beach may be a tad narrow, but it is brimming with sunbeds and a cozy spot for your towel. It's the perfect place to while away a few hours, with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. However, the limited parking space means that the main road is often clogged with traffic, which can slow things down a bit.

The warmth of the first rays of sunshine is simply delightful, especially during the hot summer months when the temperature can quickly soar after 10:00am. Although the price of renting a Sind bed is a bit steep at 5 euros, there is always the option of lounging on the sand near the rocky edge of the beach.
