There's a beach located south of the harbour in Argeles that has beach houses, some of which are situated on the sand, making it easy to access the beach. During my visit, the water was clear and calm, and I felt safe swimming in it.
This beach is a charming and secluded spot, away from the usual tourist crowds. It has a cozy and peaceful vibe that I really enjoy. What's great about this place is that there are no large hotels, only quaint, small lodges. There is a spacious car park on site, and another one just a short walk away that is even larger. Don't miss the opportunity to explore the coastal path that leads to Collioure, as the views are truly stunning. I've attached a few photos of the breathtaking cliffs you can see from the path.
The beach is quite lovely, resembling a sandy shoreline with ample room for numerous individuals. However, the waves are quite high and the ocean floor drops off steeply.
The beach is flat and sandy, with a considerable width and depth. One unique feature is the nearby small village of Racou, which consists of a handful of houses right on the sand. The village streets are narrow, only accommodating a few beachgoers and their belongings. Some of the houses are available for rent, providing direct beach access and stunning views. Overall, it's a lovely spot to relax and soak up the sun.
This beach is relatively peaceful compared to the larger ones on the opposite side of the harbor. The southern view is quite pleasant, as the final hills of the Pyrenees slope down into the sea. However, it can be a bit breezy at times.
