Nickel Plate Beach is a fantastic destination for a fun-filled day by the water! While swimming and tanning are always options, the beach offers so much more to keep you entertained. Thrill-seekers can rent kayaks, paddleboards, and other watercraft, while those seeking a more relaxed experience can enjoy a picnic on the grassy field, complete with grills, picnic tables, and pavilions. The playground is perfect for keeping the little ones entertained, and the volleyball net provides a fun activity for all ages. For the adventurous, the pier offers a scenic hike with breathtaking views. While the path can be steep and rocky in some areas, the reward is a secluded beach at the end, perfect for beachcombing. The beach also offers convenient amenities like beach showers to rinse off the sand and porta-potties. While there are no changing rooms, the showers provide a refreshing way to clean up before heading home. The $6 parking fee (or $40 annual pass) is well worth it for the numerous amenities and activities available. Plus, you'll receive a BOGO ice cream cone coupon for a local shop with each visit, adding a sweet treat to your day. Overall, Nickel Plate Beach is a delightful spot to soak up the sun, enjoy the water, and create lasting memories with friends and family. With its wide range of activities and amenities, it's the perfect place to experience all that summer has to offer.
Loved this place! Almost feels like a private beach! The right amount of breeze and beautiful sand in this little cove-like area, so clean and so pretty, with a view of a lighthouse and plenty of winged friends to amuse you. This is the perfect place to meditate, picnic or just commune with nature. Go see it next time you're in the area!
Nice big beach with crashing waves and soft sand. There were lots of dead fish on the left side of the beach when we were there. Also, it looks as if there is a place where you can rent kayaks and whatnot called the "paddle shack." However, it wasn't open yet as it was right before Memorial Day when we were there. There are port-a-potties, a picnic area, sand volleyball, and a nice playground setup. I'm not sure if there is pay to park during the summer hours as there was a booth right before entering the parking area. It is handicap accessible with a nice blue bamboo type of runner that loops around the volleyball courts. It should be noted that there are no lifeguards on duty here , and dogs are prohibited between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
I love it.. Best beach ever.. Can't wait to go back!!!!
It's actually a pretty nice sandy beach. A little debris on the beach which for me isn't a big deal. It's natural and it's nature. It's pretty wide but short beach which can get a bit crowded at times. $6 for parking. Nice clean bathrooms with shower on outside for rinsing off sand. There's a playground on the beach for young children and a restaurant close by for grabbing drinks and snacks. The water was nice and clear. You can walk out in the water a good distance and it's still by your hips and I'm 5"4 in height. No rocks, just sand so no need to wear water shoes when venturing out in the water. Very sandy and easy on the feet. Nice walking path close by the water if you want to take a stroll. I'd recommend this place for a nice day on the beach for yourself or with family. No pet's allowed on the beach.
