This beach is absolutely beautiful and peaceful, with fossils scattered along the shore for easy discovery.
As you drive through Skinningrove, you might be tempted to head to Runswick Bay with its famous golden sands and charming thatched fisherman's cottage. But wait! Just past the Moonfleet Guest House, you'll discover a tidy, peaceful inlet and beach. Follow the path north through what appears to be a former railway arch, and you'll come across a spacious beach with no fancy amenities, just stunning views and a towering headland above. This beach is quite large and popular with dog owners seeking tranquility, only interrupted by the refreshing North Sea breeze. Despite Skinningrove being a mining town that may not initially impress, the beach on a sunny summer day more than makes up for any visual disappointments along the way. Keep a positive mindset as you search for your own hidden gem in this area.
The beach is excellent, especially when the tide is out as it becomes quite large. It is dog friendly and located along the coastal Cleveland Way walk. Just a heads up, there are no food or drink facilities so be sure to bring water if you plan on walking. I highly recommend this beach.
This beach is a hidden gem located in Skinningrove village, complete with a convenient car park. It's perfect for fossil hunting, so be sure to head towards the Jetty for a beautiful sandy beach experience.
What a fantastic beach. It was peaceful and secluded during our visit, with only a few dog walkers and hikers passing by along the coastal path. It's a hidden gem of a beach that our dog thoroughly enjoyed, playing with other dogs. If you're looking for a quiet beach, this is a must-visit. You'll need to park in a free carpark a short distance away, so be sure to grab a spot quickly. We were lucky to be staying in a nearby cottage, so we didn't need to worry about parking. The walk to the beach is lovely, passing by the boat monument and jetty. If you didn't know it was there, you might miss this hidden beach - a true discovery. We're already planning our next visit, which will include a hike along the coast.
