What a beautiful beach! As an unfit walker it was definitely a "rest every few minutes coming back up the hill" kind of walk. But definitely manageable. We walked down and back. Down was definitely easier. It took us about 1.5hrs with a bit of a rest at the beach when we got there. I definitely would not swim at the beach as there are very rough waves and a strong current. Definitely worth the walk.
Such a stunning coastal hike leading to Homunga Bay, Orokawa Bay! Stunning and interesting native crevices I've not seen before...the waves below and amazing farmlands. A grueling hike but worth the leg muscles burning. I must return to complete the falls and Waihi Beach end.
One of enjoyable walk we experienced that just less than 2hours drive from Auckland. Entered in to the private farm land and ended to this beautiful secluded beach. We had all the beach all by ourselves on Queen’s Birthday. 👏👏 Make sure to empty your bladder before going to this place as there was no public toilet in the area 🥴 It probably best to visit on summer time to have a perfect swimming on a sunny day. He place was just 10-15 minutes drive to Waihi Township.
A mini "Abel Tasman" experience! A good 30 minute walk down and 40 minute or so walk up! As others have said, the beach is quite secluded and it's gorgeous! Well worth the walk. We walked down with with jandals but maybe walking shoes would have been better !
This is a great secluded beach with a small waterfall/cave. I first came across it at the beginning of 2018 and been there a few times after. Great place to relax, fish or just listen to the waves crash. From my experience you can walk to get to it from the other bays/Bowentown beach end or you can drive to a small car park/property closer to the bay and do a small hike down, roughly about 30 minutes - follow the marked tracks though as it passes through private property ☺️
