During our stop in Mazatlan, we went on a shore excursion to Deer Island where we enjoyed kayaking, swimming, and a light lunch. It was a pleasant experience!
If you're in Mazatlan, make sure to visit Los Venados Island. The water is calm and clear, allowing you to connect with nature without the usual crowds. I couldn't find a peaceful spot to listen to the ocean in Mazatlan, but this island provided the perfect escape. The cost is reasonable at $150 pesos for round trips or $300 pesos if you want to rent a beach umbrella and chairs, which are essential. There are no restaurants on the island, so be sure to bring your own food, drinks, and most importantly, plastic bags to clean up your trash and deposit it in a trash can. Let's all do our part to keep this island clean. I highly recommend spending a few hours here. Another option is kayaking, a fun adventure that takes about 20 minutes with a good paddling partner. 🙂
This charming island is a great destination for just $150MX per person, roughly $9-$10US, as of August 2023. It's only a short 3-4 minute boat ride from the beach. Once you arrive, you can rent a few chairs and an umbrella for $300MX. The water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming. You can also rent jet skis and canoes. You can stay until 5pm when they start clearing out everyone. The only downside is that you need to bring your own food and drinks, and there are no public bathrooms so make sure to take care of that before you come over.
This beach offers a peaceful getaway from the crowded city beaches of Mazatlán. You can arrange a private ride to and from the beach for around 250 pesos. If you plan on spending the whole day there, I recommend taking the private ride for convenience.
This beach is a beautiful spot to visit and was the highlight of our trip.
