Uncontaminated cove, beautiful to see with a mask. Unfortunately, reaching it is not easy: from Cuile de Sas Bagassas there is a very difficult and poorly signposted route. The best way to access is by boat.
Uncontaminated cove of great charm. A warning for all those who intend to visit it: up to the second coile the road is in excellent condition, after which the last stretch, although well marked on Goggle maps, is absolutely not for inexperienced trekkers. You need good shoes and skill to travel even very steep paths, which are practically non-existent in the midst of the dense Mediterranean scrub. Calculate that it will take about two hours if you have weight with you and, if in summer, try not to tackle the route in the middle of the day. However it's worth it.
Beautiful excursion! Spectacular.
Cala Bernardu, on the western coast of Bosa, is located on the wild promontory of Capo Marrargiu. We are in the Site of Community Interest (SCI) called "Hinterland and coastal area between Bosa, Capo Marargiu and Porto Tangone". The protected area extends into the coastal areas of Bosa and Villanova Monteleone and other inland municipalities. It was established to protect biodiversity through the conservation of natural habitats. In particular, it is the area in Sardinia, and at a national level, considered the most important for the nesting of the Griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus), in fact it is easy to see more specimens flying high, masterfully exploiting the ascending currents. Cala Bernardu beach is one of the pebbly beaches, surrounded by dark volcanic rocks of an effusive nature. The route to reach it crosses a wild territory characterized by dense scrubland with a prevalence of wild olive trees and mastic trees, with an abundant presence of euphorbias and brooms. Near the sea you can find: sea fennel (Crithmum maritimum), Evax rotundata, Helicrysum italicum and other endemics. It can be reached by boat from Bosa, but the approach to the coast is very dangerous due to the presence of emerging or semi-submerged rocks. On foot it takes at least an hour's walk, leaving the car at km 14 of the provincial road 49 Bosa-Alghero, in an open space adjacent to the road, take the dirt road that descends in a south-west direction and goes towards the Coile Calchinadas and then it reaches Coile Sas Bagassas, continuing southwards you arrive at Cala Bernardu.
The cove is located a few hundred meters below, starting from the cuile de sas bagassas
